Placement Support and Outreach
Flexible support for young people and families
Kanda’s placement support and outreach programs provide flexible, trauma-informed support services for families and young people experiencing significant challenges in their lives.
By offering practical and emotional support, we help young people maintain stable and enduring out-of-home placements. Our goal is to help young people strengthen relationships, build resilience and achieve positive long-term outcomes.
Supporting stable and connected placements
Stable placements grow from trust, understanding and consistency.
Kanda’s Queensland placement support services are designed to help families, carers and care teams maintain strong, positive connections with the children and young people in their care.
We provide:
- Therapeutic and practical guidance to stabilise placements and strengthen care environments
- Collaboration with families, foster and kinship carers, and departmental partners
- Family time and transport coordination to maintain meaningful contact and connection
- Support for carers through coaching, problem-solving and trauma-informed strategies
Kanda is an approved provider of interstate programs such as the Casework Support Scheme (CSS). This enables us to tailor support packages to ensure continuity of care for children and families relocating from NSW to Queensland.
Family Support Services and Outreach
Our Family Support and Outreach programs are designed to support families and communities through tailored, evidence-informed initiatives that address their unique challenges. By maintaining flexible, responsive services, we aim to minimise disruptions and increase the likelihood of stable, long-term placements and positive outcomes for children and their families.

Our trauma-informed approach
All staff are trained in the Sanctuary Model, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), and Hope and Healing Framework. These trauma-informed approaches focus on healing, emotional safety, and positive relationships.
By learning how to cope with stress and prevent trauma symptoms, we can better manage conflict and help our clients form healthy relationships.

Make a Referral
Referrals are generally made through the Department of Family and Community Services or related partner agencies. When we receive a referral, we thoroughly review the child and young person’s background, care needs, and any risks to ensure we can provide the right support.
